From a set of minutes recently discovered!

On 12th December 1993, the IDMCC held it’s Annual General Meeting at Cawdor Tavern, following on from a very icy trial at Drynachan. which attracted 14 of the 34 members we had at that time. This year we have 194 members!

The club membership fees for 199 were held at £12 and £5 for youth and social members (2018 was £15 and £5).

During the year, club trials attracted around 17 riders per event of which there were 13 that season.

The secretary pointed out that we needed 19 riders at Alvie to break even as we paid £1.25 per rider to the Estate!

The bank account in 1993 stood at £800.00 (the 2018 figure is much more than that!)

Ewan MacPherson was appointed Chairman, but declined in favour of Johnny Macintosh. John MacLennan was again voted in as Secretary, but wanted a break so Willie MacMillan stepped up to take the job.

Dave MacKay became Treasurer and Ian Grant was Press Officer. Malcolm Smith became Trials Convenor.

The committee consisted of: Ewan MacPherson. Gavin Johnston, Alan Gordon, Keith MacIntosh, Gary Kennedy and Dave Kennedy.

Malcolm Smith suggested the creation of a Pre’65 National Trial to be held at Alvie (this is now our Paul Kilbauskas Memorial national trial).

John MacLennan clarified that SACU permit A & B routes in Scottish Championship rounds. If the club were to implement split routes, then riders will require A & B plates fixed to the front of their bikes for the benefit of observers. The committee were to consider the implications more fully.

2018 Championship standings out soon!

The Club 2018 Championship final standings should be available later this week.

The annual presentation of awards will take place during the club ‘Big Night Out’ on Friday 7th December 7.30 for 8.00pm at Fairways Leisure, tickets priced at £25 are available until next week from the Club secretary, book your place now… idmcc@outlook.com

2019 – Setting Events Out

SETTING OUT EVENTS

As of 2019, a new structure as to who will ‘set out trials’ will be implemented. As discussed over numerous committee meetings it has been agreed that from next year each committee member will be allocated a trial in the year which they have to organise club members to set out alongside themselves.

The aim is to help introduce club members who are novices to ‘setting out a trial’ by grouping them with an experienced club member to set out an event.

For many year’s events organised by the club have been set out by the same small handful of members and a line must be drawn before these helpful individuals no longer want to offer their services thus causing trials and the club to suffer.

Once the dates of 2019 events are confirmed, be expected to be contacted by a member of the committee regarding forth coming events asking for your assistance. If you wish to put yourself forward for events held in a certain location please do so as the club and committee will be very grateful.

Anyone member who agrees to an event but then has to pull out must find a member to replace them.

Club rule 14 states: ‘Each Senior Youth and Adult club member who is an SACU licence holder, must be prepared to assist with the organisation, setting out and/or observing etc. of trials when requested. Failure to do so may result in non-renewal of membership, which will be at the discretion of a Disciplinary Committee.’

Setting out of an event allows those who assisted to participate in the event free of charge. And at the yearly award their name will be entered into a prize draw.

Any club member (that is not part of the committee) who would like to come along to committee meeting is welcome to do so, to see and have an input on items that will be discussed.

You may actually enjoy the experience of helping YOUR club.

The Inverness and District MCC committee would like to thank all club members for their continuous support over previous years and for years to come.

New Trophy For IDMCC

The John Younie Memorial Trophy, donated by Richard Mackintosh to the club.

Long standing member, Richard Mackintosh has purchased a new trophy for the club, which will be awarded at the ‘Big Night Out’ on December 7th 2018 to be held at Fairways Leisure.
It is named the ‘John Younie Memorial Trophy’ for the best performance by an Inverness & District MCC member in the Scottish Six Days Trial annually. This is not an official award of the SSDT; this is an official award of the IDMCC only to bona-fide club members who take part in the annual event.
John Younie was a farmer and IDMCC member from Drumnadrochit who competed in club and national trials. Richard, or Dicky Mac as many of us know him as, was a riding buddy of John Younie and he thought it appropriate to dedicate the trophy in John Younie’s memory.
This years’ winner is: Ross Murray who came home in 111th position on 274 marks.
