Due to the current state of affairs in the UK and Scotland, the Scottish ACU, our governing body, has taken the very difficult decision this morning, 16th March 2020, to cancel all motorcycle events until at least the 31st May 2020.
This means that no events promoted by the Inverness & Dusrtrict MCC Ltd will take place during that period, this includes: Open To Scotland, National, Club Trials, Practice or Training Days, as we do not have valid insurance permits during this period.
We would strongly advise that during this period that you DO NOT private practice on any land that the IDMCC normally use for events, as you do not have any liability insurance cover through the Inverness & District MCC or Scottish ACU.By doing so, you may be putting the landowner at risk if you were to have, or to cause, an accident with a motorcycle on their property. The Directors and Committee of the Inverness & District Motor Cycle Club Ltd will not be held responsible or liable under any circumstances if a member is injured or causes injury to third parties during private practice sessions.
The full statement by the SACU is detailed below:
“SACU Statement to Members – Coronavirus-19The Board of Directors have made the very hard decision to cancel all SACU permitted events till 31 May 2020. We will assess the situation after this date. This has not been an easy decision for the board, but considering the situation with the spread of the virus we believe this is the best way to proceed in the interest of our members and their families to ensure their wellbeing. We will make every effort to ensure scope for any Scottish Championship events to find other dates in the calendar.I hope you all can understand this decision, and that it is our responsibility to ensure the safety of all involved in Motorcycle Sport. – Sandy Mack MBE., Chairman-SACU”
