IDMCC Ltd AGM 2020

As members are already aware, large indoor gatherings are not permitted during this Covid pandemic and we are unable to hold the company Annual General Meeting in December as we have done for many years.

However, we have provisionally booked the Fairways Leisure function suite for Monday, 5th April 2021 to hold our AGM at 8pm. Please put a note of this date in your diary.

By law, we must hold the AGM of the company no later than 18 months following the previous AGM, so we have until May next year to achieve this.

Hopefully the pandemic will be under more control by April, but we will keep you all posted as the months roll by.

In the meantime, the committee will be co-opting a couple of members who will serve on the committee until the AGM when they will be eligible to stand for election.

A reminder that the club memberships expire on 14th December this year and the membership fees are being held for 2021. Adult Riding members: £20; Youth riding members: £10 and social non-riding members £5.

Inverness donates

The inverness & District Motor Cycle Club Limited ran the annual Intro To Trials event in late December 2019 and the proceeds raised that day have just been donated to Cancer Research UK in memory of Mrs Margaret Smith, the late wife of our President, Malcolm Smith.

Margaret passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday 21st November 2019. It was agreed that the Intro event at Tain be used to collect money for the familys’ chosen charity, Cancer Research UK and we were able to donate the sum of £726.25, marking a year since Margaret sadly passed away.

Usually we have a photo shoot for presentations such as this, but things have been curtailed this year due to Covid, so an online donation on behalf of the club was made by John Moffat, Company Secretary and a receipt obtained.

The Smith family are delighted with the donation and wish to thank all riders who took part in the event and those who also donated on the day.

Tom calls it a day

Tom McBride from Spinningdale has been an IDMCC committee member for many years and a founder Director of the Inverness & District Motor Cycle Club Limited when it was incorporated in 2006.

After careful thought, Tom has decided to retire as company director and to resign his position with the committees of IDMCC and ITC.

The Directors and Committee would like to thank Tom most sincerely for all the hard work he has put into the club and company over the years, and it is without doubt he has put into the sport of trials much more than he ever took out.

Tom was a staunch supporter of the annual club championship and was the driver behind getting members to observe at championship rounds so that fair and accurate results could be obtained for the championships. He was also the Chief Marshall at our Internationally reknowned Highland Classic 2 Day Trial.

We all in the club wish Tom well for the future and hope that he will enjoy ordinary membership and be able to attend as many of our trials as he possibly can in the years to come.

Inverness Trials Club – Alvie Trial

Sixty-three members of the Inverness Trials Club (AMCA) took part in a closed to club event on Alvie Estate on Sunday, 25th October 2020.

The riders and officials were joined by David Kinnear, the former Factor of Alvie Estate who was on hand to introduce Suzie Crerar, Alvie Estates’ Promotions and Events Manager to some of the Club officials. David and Suzie walked up the hill to have a look at some of the sections. Suzie is part of the management team at Alvie Estates and her visit was helpful, as she reports to the estate team on all the various activities on the estate which is all part of the diversification of the predominantly shooting estate.

Good weather prevailed and a great time was had by all the riders.

Seven new members to the club had also entered and seemed to be getting the hang of things.

AMCA Events Ltd provided the club with Covid-19 information signage and everyone observed social distancing at signing on and during the day. The event is the second club trial promoted by the Inverness Trials Club, part of Inverness & District Motor Cycle Club Limited.

Jimmy Jenkins was team leader of the course plotters for the event

Thanks go to Jimmy Jenkins and Nigel Robertson and team for setting out and Stewart Anderson, Event Secretary for safely signing in the riders and officials.

Alvie is all go

Inverness Trials Club (affiliated to AMCA) has made arrangements to promote a closed to club trial at the popular Alvie Estate on Sunday 25th October, 2020.

The club’s first event at Cannich earlier this month was a great success and it was decided to have a day at Alvie to vary the terrain for our members.

At present, we are currently accepting new club members but restricting it to the Inverness and Highland postal code area due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

All events are properly Insured, Risk Assessed and fully permitted by the governing body. The event has the support and permission of Alvie Estates Ltd and their representative will be on hand during the event, but keeping a safe distance, being the landowners.

Jimmy Jenkins takes the helm of the marking out team for this event.

Entry fee is payable on the day through our cashles contactless card system, by debit or credit card, £15 for Adults and £10 for Youth riders

The event is by pre-entry to the Company Secretary by e-mail: idmcc@outlook.com on the appropriate e-mail generic proforma which was sent by e-mail to all bona fide club members.

Entries close on Friday 23rd October 2020 at 5pm.

We are back!

We are back on Sunday, 16th August 2020 at Cannich, Strathglass with 40 riders plus officials for a club only trial. Please see event location on this website under ‘Trial Venues’.

As agreed by the committee only 2020 season paid-up members holding a Trials Card have had their entries accepted.

Any member who has not applied for an SACU Trials Card yet should get in touch with the Club Secretary to obtain a form. We are no longer issuing one event licences at events. You must pre-enter and cannot enter on the day. This event is promoted by Inverness & District MCC under an SACU permit.

At present, we are not taking on any new members for either of our clubs, IDMCC or ITC.

The committee have decided to restrict the type of event to ‘Closed to Club’ until at least the end of 2020. We will not be organising Open To Scotland or National type events in 2020.

Please be aware that Covid-19 precautions will be in operation before, during and after the event and any entrant who feels unwell should not come to the trial but stay at home.

Please follow the instructions and any signing strictly and adhere to what you are told and directed upon arrival.

Entry fees will be collected electronically using debit/credit card.

Please park as instructed, leaving a gap of 4 meters between vehicles (approximately a passenger car length).

Do not ride your machines around the paddock area and follow route marking. Keep a distance from other groups during the event.

Social distancing is a priority at all times and take your own face masks and gloves with you. Store all your own rubbish in a black bag inside your vehicle and take it home and put in your own refuse bins.

Stay Safe, Stay Alert, Keep our club Covid free!

Club Update – August 2020

As of 1st August 2020, following a concentrated approach, we have been unable to secure permission from Police Scotland, the Highland Council and NHS Highland to satisfy the requirements of the Scottish ACU, to allow the club to apply for permits to allow recommencement of promoting trials events, albeit on a small, restricted scale.

The committee, like our members, feel a sense of frustration at this time, as we have already secured the express permission of our landowners to safely recommence trials with the necessary social distancing and precautions to twart the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) by introducing spaced parking, staggered starts and the usual PPE and hand sanitising methods etc.

In light of the hurdles the committee are facing currently, we are now actively discussing alternatives that are open to the club committee and we will be informing members of our decision, backed by the directors of the company that operates the club, in due course.

Rest assured, the club committee are committed to recommence our sport, sooner rather than later.

Our decisions will be based on giving our members what they want, to ride their bikes in our events, fully insured, to protect our very supportive landowners and keep them suitably indemnified so that we may continue to promote events, in a safe manner, as we have done for over 35 years.

The club committee will be meeting virtually on Monday, 3rd August 2020 at 8pm to discuss these alternatives, and will be reporting to every member whom we hold e-mail addresses for during the week commencing 3rd August.

Statement issued on behalf of Inverness & District Motor Cycle Club Ltd directors on Saturday 1st August, 2020.
